How to Get Query Responses from Big Name Literary Agencies
Two questions I am asked a lot are: “What kind of results are writers getting at the Writing Gym? What’s really happening in the Writing Gym? Are writers really getting published?”
First of all, if you have these questions, we’d love to have you check out our extensive success stories over at datewiththemuse.com. You’ll see videos of our writers and the results that they’re getting.
Today, I want to talk to you about some recent results from the Writing Gym.
I’m working with a guy named Aaron. He’s written a great literary fiction novel, and we’ve been putting together some bang-up submission materials for him.
He started querying less than a week ago, and the results have been amazing.
He’s received half a dozen full-manuscript requests!
If you have ever queried before, you know that doesn’t happen—to even get one, never mind several. In addition, Aaron’s requests are from big-name agencies, many of which I could call on the phone and say, “Hey I’m going to send this over to you.”
That’s what happened with Jeff Kleinman over Folio Lit, who was thrilled to get Aaron’s submission. Also, Aaron got a full manuscript request from Susan Golem, which is a big deal.
And it’s not just about getting requests for full manuscripts.
If you’ve queried, you know it is hard to get requests. Getting a full manuscript request is super rare, but what’s more amazing is the turnaround times we are getting in the Writing Gym.
We got one full manuscript request within five minutes! And it’s not just the request for the full that’s amazing, but take a look at the note from this agent Marilyn Biderman at Transatlantic:
“Aaron! Thanks so much for writing. Probably the best query note I’ve ever received.”
Imagine getting that from an agent!
“Please send full manuscript. I’m dying for something to read.”
I mean, is that amazing, or what?
That’s the power of the Writing Gym. The queries we’re putting out are professional and well done. Why? Because I talk to agents every single day. I know what they’re looking for, what they want, and how to talk to them.
That’s what we do. We send queries that work, because agents love them and ask for full manuscripts.
Are you tired of spinning your wheels, getting rejections, and wondering what the problem is?
“Is it my query letter? Is it my synopsis? Is it my manuscript? Is it my hair?”
If you’re ready for real results, let’s chat. You can book yourself directly into my calendar. If you’re in the United States, we can talk on the phone. If you’re abroad, we’ll get on Skype. We’ll talk about where you are, where you’d like to go, and how you can get there.
This isn’t for everyone. It’s only for people who are truly ready to stop the BS, get some real results and to leave the author lifestyle and publish that dang novel. Till next time, Happy Writing!
